Brock Morton, a 6′5″ shooting guard is now ready for the rigors of college basketball. Instead of prep school, which is what many D-I coaches recommended because of his young HS graduation age, Brock attended college and played daily against top competition including former colllege players. Now 18 yrs. old, he is ready to earn his minutes on some lucky NCAA coaches squad.

[He has 4 years of eligibility]

Here is what Brock’s high school coach had to say about him:

“Brock is a terrific all around basketball player. He is a long and skilled guard who shoots the three with accuracy. He is one of those kids that when he misses a shot, you are actually surprised. He is an excellent passer and a has a great “feel” for the game. Brock is our school’s all-time scoring leader.

“This feat is amazing especially because of his pass first mentality. He makes players around him better by getting them involved early and often.”

“He has great practice habits and is always looking to improve his skills. Brock is a terrific player but he is an even better person. He was an exceptional captain and team leader. In my opinion, he is a “can’t miss” for any college coach.

– Coach Brad Shelley , Holland Hall Prep School head coach

Here is how Brock’s most recent AAU coach evaluated him:

“Brock Morton shoots 3’s with range.”

“He’s a big, strong aggressive defensive guard who can cover 2’s and 3’s. Is a tough kid that rebounds well for a guard.”

“Brock handles the ball and gets to the bucket, has played a lot of point in high school. He has a terrific attitude and loves to compete.”

Point Guard runnin the show~

Point Guard runnin the show~

Holland Hall does not compete for State Championships since they are not a member of the OSSAA;  however, this year’s Oklahoma’s 3A State Champions in basketball, the Cascia Hall Commandos, met the Dutch during the regular season.  Senior guard Brock Morton finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Here is the story from the Tulsa World:

Holland Hall 61, Cascia Hall 60 (boys):

The Dutch outlasted the Class 3A second-ranked Commandos to remain perfect.
Brock Morton finished with 28 points for Holland Hall (7-0). Price Pinkerton scored 18 points off the bench to pace Cascia (4-3).

Morton and Pinkerton both had 10 points in the final quarter. Morton sank the game-winning jumper with 35 seconds remaining. The Commandos had a couple of looks in the final 20 seconds but neither shot dropped.

Cascia Hall was up 23-19 after the first quarter but Holland Hall rallied and held a 32-29 edge at the half.

Morton had nine second-period points, including a pair of free throws with no time on the clock to give the Dutch the advantage.

Holland Hall led 48-43 after three quarters. Bailey Miles had nine of his 12 points for the Dutch on 3-of-3 3-pointers in the frame. Pinkerton had six points late in the period to keep the Commandos close.

For some unknown reason, Division II and III colleges weren’t having to compete with Division I coaches in the recruiting battle over 6′5″ combo guard Brock Morton.

Schools like Northeastern State, Case Western Reserve, Millsaps College, Trinity University and others were vying for the signature and commitment by Morton,  the All-Time leading scorer at Holland Hall Prep School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Morton, who is wanting to study Entrepreneurship and Business in college,  has also considering being an “invited” walk-on at 5 or 6 high to mid-major universities that also provided the quality of education he desires.

However, it appears that  some Division I schools are now recognizing the tremendous upside to their basketball program that Morton offers.

With the next  basketball signing date still more than a month away, it will be interesting to see where Morton ends up displaying his all around, team oriented game.
